Google has recently launched Search Console Insights — a new reporting dashboard designed to help website owners understand their audience and interactions better. A year after releasing the limited beta version, this update will be rolled out across all users who have a verified Search Console account.

We all know that content is king, especially when it comes to SEO. Producing great content helps you build a loyal and engaged audience, and naturally boosts your performance in search results by providing your users with a great experience. But creating content that best resonates with your audience takes a large amount of effort and listening to what your audience wants.

With Search Console Insights, Google is hoping to bridge the gap between data and content, by combining data from Search Console and Google Analytics to provide website owners deeper insights into content performance.

In this article, we’ll introduce you to what we know about Search Console Insights Beta, and how you can access and leverage the insights to drive your SEO and content marketing strategy.

What is Search Console Insights?

Search Console Insights is Google’s latest update to the Search Console. Whether you are a web content creator, blogger, or website owner, it can provide you with an overview and helpful insights on how your content is performing.

This new experience is being gradually rolled out from mid-June. If you haven’t noticed it already, you should see it on your Search Console in the upcoming days!

This dashboard will give you a whole new way of analysing your content performance and can help you answer questions about your content, such as:

  • What are your best-performing pieces of content, and which ones are trending?
  • How do people discover your content across the web?
  • What do people search for on Google before they visit your content?
  • Which article refers users to your website and content?
  • What keywords are trending around my content?

How can I access Search Console Insights?

Search Console Insights is simple to access — you won’t miss it! First, log in to your Google Search Console account. From there, there are a few ways to access Search Console Insights:

  • Select “Search Console Insights” from the top of Search Console’s Overview page.
  • Use this link to go straight to it.
  • In the iOS Google App, select Search Console Insights in the account menu (tap your profile picture). This is coming soon and will also come soon to the Android app!

Linking Search Console and Google Analytics

To get the absolute most from Search Console Insights, you should link, or associate, the relevant Google Search Console property with the relevant Google Analytics property. Just note that for now, this dashboard only supports Google Analytics Universal Analytics properties (those that start with UA-), but they are working on integrating Google Analytics 4, as well.

Why We Care

With more granular data about how web content is performing, what’s trending, and how people are reaching your website, we’re excited to get down and dirty with Search Console Insights to help us see our data in new ways and respond quicker to content changes.

We think it’s definitely worth the time to get familiar with. You may even discover some new ideas or key insights into your content strategy.
